An application for a small and/or supplemental grant from the Hroswaith Fund looks as follows:
- A one-page, single-spaced description of the project, understandable to a non-specialist. This should include the project's start and end dates and must be written by the student and clearly articulate goals and anticipated impact for the student’s study of German in an immersion environment; if the proposed project includes multiple components, all must be addressed. An example of multiple components would be language acquisition (e.g. a language and culture course) combined with a research portion towards an independent study project.
- An itemized budget and detailed budget justification with all figures rounded to the nearest $10. To view a sample budget, please click here. Please note that the department expects students to put forward a plan to use the funds as effectively as possible. This often means staying in hostels, sharing hotel room, using mass transit when possible, etc. Students are also expected to see if other funds are available and, if available, explain how they will be used.
- A PDF of the student's unofficial academic history from Polaris (for guidelines on how to save your unofficial academic history as a PDF, click here).
- All components should be merged in a single PDF and emailed with a clear subject line (e.g. “Hroswaith small grant application”)
